The museum is located at the eastern edge of the city center, approx. 300 m from Augustusplatz (Gewandhaus/Opera).


By foot

15 minutes by foot from the main station and 7 minutes by foot from Augustusplatz.


By car

Multi-storey car parks at Gutenbergplatz, Augustusplatz, in Querstraße and in the former main post office (access from Grimmaischen Steinweg); parking at Täubchenweg, Inselstraße, Dresdner Straße, Talstraße and Salomonstraße


public transport

By tram and the lines 4, 7, 12, 15 (stop “Johannisplatz”) or by commuter train (stop "Hauptbahnhof tief", "Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz" oder "Markt").


By bus

Buses can only make short stops at the museum (Täubchenweg). In Talstraße, opposite the museum, there is a bus station. A list of other city bus stations and further information for bus travelers can be found here.
