The museum is located at the eastern edge of the city center, approx. 300 m from Augustusplatz (Gewandhaus/Opera).

15 minutes by foot from the main station and 7 minutes by foot from Augustusplatz.

Multi-storey car parks at Gutenbergplatz, Augustusplatz, in Querstraße and in the former main post office (access from Grimmaischer Steinweg); parking at Täubchenweg, Inselstraße, Dresdner Straße, Talstraße and Salomonstraße.

Electric filling stations are located in Salomonstraße, Georgiring and Grimmaischer Steinweg.

By tram lines 4, 7, 12, 15 (stop “Johannisplatz”) or by S-Bahn (stop "Hauptbahnhof tief", "Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz" or "Markt").

Buses can only make short stops at the museum (Täubchenweg). In Talstraße, opposite the museum, there is a bus parking space. A list of other city bus parking spaces and further information for bus travelers can be found here.
