Since the beginning of civilization, the exchange between cultures has had an impact on the arts, crafts, and design. Works of art, their shapes, decors and the techniques used to craft them were and are subject to transformation.
With a shift in the role that children play in society, the appearance of seating furniture for young ones has also changed. We presented some of the first high chair models by the internationally renowned Thonet company, iconic designs from the Bauhaus era and innovative plastic seating objects from the 1960s and 1970s.
In their jewellery workshop in Hildesheim, the artist couple produce the famous chip-like collars made of gold. In recent years they have also created a series of gilded containers to which this foyer exhibition is dedicated.
