From January to December, the museum is celebrating its opening 150 years ago with exciting exhibitions, a variety of events, new high-ranking works of art, interventions in the permanent exhibition, interesting projects and collaborations. The anniversary year will focus on the special exhibitions A CHAIR AND YOU, FUTURES.MATERIAL AND DESIGN OF TOMORROW and the exhibition, which pays tribute to our international collectors and donors DANKE. MERCI. GRAZIE. HARTELIJK DANK.
Our festival weekend was so wonderful
On Sat, May 25 and Sun, May 26, we celebrated with all of you: There was live music, poetry slams, a 20s party, guided tours and talks and a family Sunday with presentations of various trades and a tour through 150 years of eventful museum history.

Design classics to own/to sit on
Our cooperation partner smow is presenting the classics of modern chair design in a walk-in showroom until the end of the year.
In cooperation with ZEIT Verlag, the museum has produced a 24 page publication to mark its anniversary.
As part of the anniversary, the museum is organizing a conference on the topic of "The future of collecting. The Museum of Applied Arts tomorrow" with a keynote speech and six impulses on the topics of provenance research, opportunities of the digital, depot development, sustainability, collecting and outreach. The speakers from the DACH region represent the fields of conservation, universities, cultural foundations and museums.
